Sharon Mariotte Carman

I went to University of Arizona until 1966 then worked for Bausch and Lomb as assistant to the manager. Married Vic Carman, U of A '67 business, in 1967. Traveled extensively in USA and eastern Canada. Vic was a rodeo and horse show announcer. It was wonderful traveling and seeing the country, too bad the kids were too young to remember. I was a stay at home mom until our youngest was in junior high, then went back to school. We lived on 5 acres north of Tucson. Becky rode hunters (English) and Ross roped calves.

I graduated in '89 with a degree in Elementary Education from the U of A. I taught at Amphi school district after graduation, Living Skills, 6th, 7th and 8th grade until 1993. Then 6th grade math and science until 2000.

Married George Laswell in 2000 and moved to El Paso, Tx. Worked for Southwest Bell selling YellowPages advertising from 2000 to 2003. Downsizing was my downfall. Just as well, I am not a corporate type of person.

I went back to teaching in El Paso, 4th and 5th grade. After I retired I substituted 3rd to 8th grade (I miss it).

I also raised and hand fed Amazon parrots. I was president of the University of Arizona Alumni chapter for Las Cruces, NM; El Paso, TX; and Juarez, Mex. The RioGrandeCats were great fun for game viewing, having lunch, participating in Keep America Beautiful, wine tasting, fund raising for scholarships and much more.

George and I moved to Tucson in January of 2014 and parted company in 2018. I started work immediately in the fulfillment department for paxis.org. PAXIS Institute develops intellectual properties and training to promote tested improvements in productivity, peace, happiness and health for people of all ages. I assemble kits for teachers to use in their classrooms, so I feel I am still helping children. Retired Sept. 2021

I am also active in the CactusCats, Tucson Chapter of the University of Arizona Alumni Association. This year I am the Community chair on the board. I love working with the board and attending the many activities. Retired 2021

I love and miss my grand kids, Kenzie Carman (Denver), David and Mark Carman (Wanakee, Wis) and Meghan Hoffman (LV, Nev). Wish they all lived in Tucson but I get to see them several times a year.

I remarried Vic Carman July 6, 2021. We were married for 27 years, divorced for 27 years and remarried 54 years later on the date of our marriage, July 6, 1967. Vic is still announcing hunter/jumper shows in California and Arizona. Retired Jan. 2023. In October (2021) he was inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame. We plan to travel and spend time visiting with friends and family.
