We had a great program teaching Transcendental Meditation, paid for by a grant, at Tucson High and several other TUSD schools. Take a look to see how the school looks now.

Transcription:
"Transcendental Meditation really helps students be creative and innovative."

"I don't really know the science involved with it but Transcendental Meditation really allows them to focus."

"Meditation gives students an opportunity to slow down and do a lot of deep inner thinking within themselves."

"Stress is constant, all the time, and I just love Transcendental Meditation as that tool, that buffer tool that helps you cope with that."

"I feel calmer now. Like a calming presence is constantly in my life. It's pretty sweet."

Assistant principle for security: "I was very suspect of what Transcendental Meditation was because I thought it was what you see in the movies and on television where you have to see with your legs crossed and make these loud chanting noises and roll your eyes in the back of your head, and you have to be totally focused on that or it doesn't work."

"You know, I have a lot of guy friends that play football, and they're like 'ah meditation that doesn't work. You're crazy.' And I was like, 'I don't know about you guys but it really worked for me though.' "

"You know kids are inundated with noise all day long. they have Ipods they have video games, they have videos on TV... and I was of the belief that they need some time everyday to just shut all that out and kind of focus a little bit on themselves and along came this TM opportunity.

Assistant principle for security: "I had to experience it to see that it wasn't what I believed it was to be. And to see my own personal benefits, I'm sleeping better at night, I'm eating healthier, I'm not as stressed out when I'm dealing with some of the crisis and drama that happens on school campuses, My thoughts are more clear..."
